Why Lakshadweep, the IKOU way
Only six of the thirty-six islands allow visitors, and each one needs a permit, so Lakshadweep has stayed small on purpose: a gateway island with an airstrip, a handful of lagoons, a capital with fifty-two mosques. We plan the permit, the inter-island transfers and the pace, so the trip is about the water, not the paperwork. See also IKOU Originals for the village and slow-road trips we build the same way.

Fly into Agatti, permit formalities, transfer to your resort, then an island tour with a guide.
Kayaking, snorkelling, banana ride, jet ski and a glass-bottom boat ride over the reef.
A boat to Kalpitty for dolphin watching, then a candlelit dinner with traditional dance.
Breakfast, check-out, and a private transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

Good to know
Yes. Every visitor, including Indian citizens, needs an entry permit from the Lakshadweep Administration before travelling. We handle the application as part of planning your trip; apply well ahead, as approval can take over a week.
October to May, the dry season, with December to February the most pleasant. June to September is the southwest monsoon: crossings get rough and most island resorts pause for the season.
By air: a roughly 90-minute flight from Kochi to Agatti, the only island with an airstrip. By sea: passenger ships from Kochi take about 14-18 hours, depending on the island. We move you between islands by boat, or helicopter where it runs.
Six: Agatti, Kavaratti, Bangaram, Kadmat, Minicoy and Kalpeni. The other thirty are off-limits or uninhabited; Thinnakara is reachable as a day trip from Bangaram.
Tuna is the island staple, and tuna curry cooked with coconut milk and spices, eaten with rice, is the dish to look for. On Kavaratti, ask for the local biryani, made with coconut milk instead of curd. On Minicoy, try mus kavaab, a spiced tuna curry. Island meals are simple and fish-led, so tell us in advance if you eat vegetarian.
