Dim sum at breakfast, an 1847 temple, the Big Buddha and the harbour lit up at dusk. Our Hong Kong tour packages from India add a day in old Macau, all by ferry, tram and train.
Why Hong Kong, the IKOU way
Hong Kong is compact: the MTR, the trams and the Star Ferry reach almost everything, so each day can hold one real place and a long table. Yum cha for breakfast, an 1847 temple on Hollywood Road, a hilltop Buddha on Lantau, then the harbour at dusk. Macau, with its Portuguese old town and egg tarts, is an hour away by fast ferry.

Good to know
Not for Hong Kong stays of up to 14 days, but every Indian passport holder must first complete the free online Pre-Arrival Registration. The result is instant; you print and sign the notification slip, and it stays valid for six months, for more than one visit.
Macau is separate. Indian passport holders are not visa-exempt there: Macau's government lists a visa on arrival at the border, or a visa in advance through a Chinese embassy or consulate. We check both with you before you fly, as the rules change.
October to December is the easiest stretch: cooler and drier. Winters are mild, usually 10 to 20°C. June to September is hot and humid, and typhoons usually arrive in those months, so in summer we keep the harbour and hill days flexible.
Start with yum cha, the Cantonese dim sum meal: har gow and siu mai come round in bamboo steamers. In a cha chaan teng, a Hong Kong-style diner, order milk tea (locals call it pantyhose tea) and a pineapple bun, which has no pineapple in it. Street stalls sell egg waffles; roast goose and wonton noodles are the classic lunch. In Macau, the egg tart has a caramelised, browned top, unlike Hong Kong's smaller tarts.
An Octopus card pays for the MTR, trams, buses and the Star Ferry. Money is the Hong Kong dollar, which is also widely taken in Macau; Cantonese is the main language and English is common.
For a day outdoors, the Dragon's Back is section 8 of the Hong Kong Trail: 8.5 km through Shek O Country Park down to the beach at Big Wave Bay, about 2 hours 45. We can swap it in for a city day.
