Why Dubai, the IKOU way

Most people come for the skyline.
We make sure you also see Old Dubai.

Downtown is the part everyone plans for, and it earns the trip: the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall, the Fountain at dusk. But Dubai started on the Creek, and that older city is still there, a short metro ride away, a working port of wooden abras, gold and spice souks and coral-stone lanes. We build both halves into the same trip, with one night in the desert in between.

Dubai, the IKOU way

Dubai is easy to see from a car window. We'd rather you walked through it.

The souks, the abra crossing, the desert at night — the parts a skyline photo can't show.

Dubai travel questions

Do Indians need a visa for Dubai?

Most Indian passport holders need a UAE visa arranged in advance, since India is not on the UAE's visa-free list. A visa-on-arrival exception exists only if you already hold a valid visa or residence permit from a short list of countries (including the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea or Singapore) — otherwise the visa is applied for beforehand. We build the visa into your planning timeline; confirm the current rules on the UAE's official immigration channels before you fly, as they do change.

What is the best time to visit Dubai?

November to March is the most comfortable stretch, with daytime highs around 24 to 27°C and little rain. Summer (May to September) is very hot and humid, with July regularly above 40°C, so we plan outdoor days like the desert safari for the cooler months where we can.

How many days do you need for Dubai?

Most journeys we design run 4 to 6 days. Four covers Downtown, Old Dubai and one desert evening; six adds an unhurried day trip to Abu Dhabi, about 1.5 hours away by road.

How do you get around, and what money do you need?

The currency is the UAE dirham (AED). The Dubai Metro's Red and Green lines cover Downtown, Bur Dubai and Deira, an abra (traditional boat) crosses the Creek for a few dirhams, and taxis and ride-hailing apps fill the rest.

What should we eat in Dubai?

In Old Dubai, finish a meal with luqaimat: golden fried dough balls scented with cardamom and saffron, drizzled with date syrup. The Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood has heritage restaurants that serve them with Arabic coffee, a gentle stop after the Creek and the souks. Both the Michelin-listed Al Khayma and the Arabian Tea House are in this quarter.

Where should we stay in Dubai?

For a first visit, Downtown puts the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall on your doorstep but has no beach. Dubai Marina and JBR suit families and beach lovers, Palm Jumeirah suits couples looking for a luxury resort, and Old Dubai (Bur Dubai and Deira) is the quieter, more local base by the Creek. We choose the area to match how you want the trip to feel.
